You’ve just been dealt a devastating blow. You have found out that your husband has been having affair. Setting aside the hurt and humiliation you are feeling, you are angry. You want revenge. Understandably so.
You find yourself plotting cruel ways to make them pay for their actions. Never before has a woman been so scorned.
“Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned.”
The Mourning Bride by William Congreve
No one can blame you for feeling hurt or full of vengeance. You have every right. Your husband did after all promise to love, honor and obey. He has broken this most sacred of vows so why should you not get a little payback?
Because what is it going to achieve?
If you want your husband back and would like to give your marriage another go then by getting revenge you will just end up pushing your husband and his mistress closer together. The opposite of what you want to achieve will happen.
If you have children then you need to think about the example you are setting. Are you really ready to show your children that if things don’t go exactly the way that you want them to go then it is okay to get your own back? No, probably not.
If you don’t want your husband back, would you not prefer to leave with dignity and grace than to appear as a banshee woman who has gone a little crazy?
As devastated as you are feeling now there is a positive to come from all of this. You can now rebuild your life however you want it to be. A fresh start. The time has come for you to become the person you always wanted to be but life just got in the way of you becoming.
Revenge won’t offer you solace and you are better than that. The best revenge is for your husband and his mistress to see that although they may have slowed you down temporarily, you are continuing on will your life. Having picked yourself up, dusted yourself off you are now not only ready for but looking forward to the new and exciting challenges ahead.
