Exercise and Physical Fitness

The day is 1440 minutes. Schedule 30 minutes of them for physical activity!

Regular exercise is an important part of health care. Active people live longer and feel
better. Exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight. It can delay or prevent diabetes, some
cancers and heart problems.

Most adults need at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity at least five days a week.
Examples include brisk walking, mowing the lawn, dancing, swimming as recreation or bicycling.
Stretching and weight training also strengthens the body and improve your fitness.

The key is finding the right exercise for you. If it’s fun, it’s more likely to stay motivated.
You might want to walk with a friend, join a class or plan bike rides with a group. If you have
been inactive for some time, be sensible and start slowly.
