The world is changing and so is the process of achieving career success. There are many things to think about but to get you started here are what I believe are five key elements to be considered.

Understand yourself.

What are your dreams and aspirations? What are you trying to achieve? What would your dream job be like? How much are you prepared to do: travel? Do shift work? Work with others? Work alone?… What are you good at? Generally people are good at what they like doing and they like doing what they are good at. What evidence do you have to prove you have that skill? Think about your achievements. What skills did you use to achieve that success? Did it save time or money? Did it improve a system or process? Did it improve efficiency?

Finding that dream career is a job in itself. Develop a strategy. Set yourself some goals, with time frames. Each C.V. and application letter should be targeted for the particular job you are applying for, so make sure, when you get that interview, that you use the same examples you had sent to them with your application.

Be creative in your job search. How did you get your last job? How did your friends get their jobs? Be a volunteer.

Go for it!

NETWORK and tell EVERYONE that you are looking for a job, or a career change or a new direction.

Be confident and believe in yourself.

Good luck.
