Tips For Effective Writing – Your Written Content Makes The Strongest Impression

There are many ways in which a person or an organization can make a first impression. In business, the most common and arguably the most effective is through the written word.

Why is this? Well, because written content has a certain finality to it. It’s safe to say that when any of us reads a flyer, sees a billboard, hears a commercial, reads an article or blog post or visits a website that the text we see or that is behind what we hear is a final version of the thoughts being conveyed. After all, most of us wouldn’t necessarily throw a first draft of anything out into the world for all to see unless we really felt it was optimized for the greatest effect. Read More »

How to Move Ahead at Work With Ease

Do you know what’s expected of you? Have you asked?

How many times have you heard someone say (or even said yourself) something like this: “Sally got promoted, not me. What’s the deal? I’ve contributed so much more than she has!” or “I just don’t know what else my boss wants from me, I did everything I could think of on this last project, and still, it wasn’t enough.” or “I’m afraid I’m going to be let go, I think I’ve done what they wanted, but I just don’t know.” Read More »

Characteristics of the Most Charismatic People

There is one cardinal rule that extraordinary speakers follow when they’re addressing others. They have learnt that the message is more important than they are. The moment you make the message about ‘you’ as the speaker is the moment you lose the connection with your listener. Exceptional speakers understand that what they have to share is important and beneficial to their audience, so they’re prepared to step out of their own way. They have learnt ways to manage the small mini-me inside that says ‘but this is really nerve-wracking and what if I stuff it up and what if I make a fool-out-of-myself.’Inside everyone of us is a small child. This tiny being just wants to be safe and warm and out of harm’s way. Read More »

How You Can Write Better, Smarter and Clearer For Profit

Writing has often been seen as both a hobby and a business. Many people write diaries and notes in journals and they may do that for many years. Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson are good examples. Another is Eleanor Roosevelt. In fact you may be doing that right now for your own reasons. As for me, I see that kind of writing as a personal hobby.

I started as a hobby writer many years ago at the urging of one of my grade school teachers. Miss Thuss said to me: ” Terry you seem to have trouble expressing yourself when you talk and try to tell us your ideas here in class but when you hand in one of the written assignments I give you to do, you have a way of writing down your ideas that is both interesting and entertaining for me and others to read.” Read More »

This doesn’t mean that you can’t have the perfect relationship however. You just need to know how to accept and embrace the differences between men and women. How to Deal With a Difficult Boss Without Losing Your Job

Few things are more discouraging than spending over 40 hours a week taking instruction from a difficult boss. While each person’s definition of what a difficult boss is will vary, employees tend to complain the most about two management issues that fall on opposite sides of the spectrum- either the difficult boss has a controlling personality or she is unable to clearly communicate her expectations.
